Generations in the Making

We believe the knowledge, traditions and values from one generation chart a course for the next.

Deep Roots

The Legacy Continues

Born from a commitment to land stewardship, Ailm Estate celebrates the spirit and energy of family as the next generation of Stewarts becomes deeply involved in the business.

With a focus on strategy, culture and operational excellence, their contributions mark the latest chapter in the Stewart Family’s enduring legacy, ensuring that the values of heritage, sustainability, and innovation continue to thrive across every aspect of the estate.

Family members of the fourth generation, Llane Dobbener, Rowan Stewart, Benjamin Walker and Rory McFadden have joined the business after spending time gaining valuable experience and skills in other areas while their cousins embrace roles as brand ambassadors.

Good Things
Take Time

We planted our first vines more than sixty years ago but our love affair with the soil goes back to 1908.

1908

Richard Stewart Sr. arrived in Kelowna from Ireland. As a horticulturist, it wasn’t long before he found himself working with trees, eventually starting Stewart Brothers Nurseries.

1950

The South Kelowna property was purchased. Sons Dick Stewart and Bill Stewart operate the site as a tree nursery, a staple of the local community.

1956

Dick Stewart Jr. left the nursery to pursue his interest in grape growing in West Kelowna while Bill continues as sole operator of tree nursery.

1989

Ben Stewart, Dick’s eldest son, established Quails’ Gate winery, joined shortly thereafter by younger siblings Tony Stewart and Cynthia Walker.

2015

The Stewart family saw an opportunity to adapt the tree nursery into a vineyard and the planting decisions began.

2020

The first vintage of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir worthy of a sparkling cuvee were harvested.

2024

Ailm Estate launches with the inaugural releases of Reserve Brut and Connemara.

The Community We Keep

As stewards of this exceptional land we seek to create wines that reflect the ultimate expression of our world-class terroir — respecting the traditions of the past, challenging assumptions, and always finding new ways to generate, nurture and support our community.
